Housing association staff raise thousands for Alzheimer’s Research
Staff from housing associations were part of a team of 33 who took part on the Great Scottish Run 10k on Sunday to raise much needed funds for Alzheimer’s Research UK (ARUK).
Patricia Gallagher, director at Provanhall Housing Association, and Daniel Murray, housing services assistant at Craigdale Housing Association, both donned their trainers and took to the streets to support the charity which is close to their hearts.
Patricia said: “Having family members affected by Alzheimer’s has been a really sad and difficult issue to deal with. Alzheimer’s is the leading cause of dementia and is a disease that no-one has yet survived. ARUK predicts that 1 in 3 children born today will suffer from some form of dementia; however it does not need to be an inevitable part of growing old.
“Alzheimer’s can affect people of any age, but it is a disease, and diseases are curable with the right research.”
Patricia and Daniel and their team have so far raised £7000. Their fundraising is still open at: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/gallywaggersandco.
