Housing associations in Castlemilk produce Universal Credit guide
Four housing associations in the Castlemilk area of Glasgow have come together to offer a helping hand on Universal Credit.
The Ardenglen, Cassiltoun, Craigdale and North View associations have produced a guide to Universal Credit which they hope will inform those needing to claim it.
The guide explains who can claim Universal Credit; how to go about making a claim; how it affects rent; how to make an online claim; and the help tenants can get from their respective housing associations in sections tailored to each housing provider.
The support from associations includes welfare rights availability and how to get energy advice plus a section on services offered across the wider Castlemilk community such as food bank availability, support for single parents, IT access and citizens’ advice.
A spokesperson for all four housing associations said: “We know our tenants are looking for advice given that Universal Credit is a new benefit. We hope our easy-to-understand and handy guide will prove useful as well as offering help on a range of issues beyond Universal Credit itself.”
The Guide is expected to be available to tenants within the next ten days.
