Housing associations secure lottery funding for building plans
Southside Housing Association and Spire View Housing Association are among ten organisations to share more than £10 million of lottery funding for a range of new builds, developments and extensions to buildings for community use.
Southside has been awarded over £1.18m to develop a new community hub by replacing the 50 year old temporary classroom building that currently serves as the Nan Mckay Hall in Pollokshields while a grant of almost £1.1m was given to Spire View to develop a new flexible multi-functional community facility in Roystonhill which will act as a hub for local activities and services.
The building, which will incorporate the sandstone frontage of the existing Rainbow Hall, will provide a shop, café, a main hall that can be subdivided, a kitchen, reception area, two meeting rooms and an interview room.
The windfalls form the final grants to be announced from the Big Lottery Fund’s Growing Community Assets fund which over the last ten years has invested a total of £98m into 181 projects helping communities acquire and develop assets that matter most to them.
