Housing minister meets Sanctuary for Scottish Housing Day
Housing minister Kevin Stewart MSP marked the first ever Scottish Housing Day with a visit to Sanctuary Scotland.
Mr Stewart joined residents and office staff at Sanctuary’s 267 Donside Village development in Aberdeen. He heard first-hand the success of the mixed-tenure community in the project’s £52 million first phase.
This sense of community is helped by Donside Village’s tenure-blind design. Homes have the same look and specification regardless of whether they are rented or owned.
Sanctuary Scotland director Pat Cahill said: “We were delighted to host Mr Stewart on the first ever Scottish Housing Day.
“It was good for the Minister to hear directly from residents how projects like Donside Village can be successful. This is a thriving community of tenants and owners at varying stages of their lifetime housing journey.”
Mr Stewart was given a walking tour of Donside Village by Peter Martin, Sanctuary’s Group director of development. Sanctuary is looking to build a further 61 flats in its second phase of Donside Village homes.
