Housing minister to headline TPAS Annual Conference in Clydebank
One of the biggest events in the social housing calendar is set to take place in the Golden Jubilee Hotel in Clydebank from June 21-23.
Now in its 3rd year in Clydebank, the TPAS Annual Conference, sponsored by ng homes attracts over 200 individuals from across the social housing sector in Scotland – from Shetland to the Scottish Borders - to come together and look at how to empower social housing tenants and build stronger communities.
Delivered by TPAS Scotland, the conference will be hosting some big names including housing minister Paul McLennan who will open the event and give a keynote address on the cost-of-living crisis and alleviating poverty; housing and independent living and encouraging and promoting diversity in tenant participation.
The minister will be joined by award-winning speaker Mike Stevenson who, having previously been homeless in London, knows the importance of empowering tenants to have their say about their own homes and local communities. And the conference will host the CEOs of the other two tenant participation organisations, TPAS England and TPAS Wales in an interesting session entitled Tenant Participation Room 101.
The conference is also host to the National Good Practice Awards, which recognises the great work happening in the social housing association sector across Scotland. There are nine categories with two awards per category. Singer and TV star Michelle McManus will host the awards and present the prizes on the night.
Elaine Scoular, operations director at TPAS Scotland, said: “This conference is a landmark in the Scottish social housing calendar. We are really looking forward to welcoming tenants, housing professionals, workshop hosts and our engaging keynote speakers in what will be a fantastic weekend of conversations, debates and of course, fun.”
