Housing Options Scotland holds 25th anniversary event
Housing Options Scotland (HOS) welcomed Shona Robison MSP, cabinet secretary for social justice, housing and local government, volunteers, staff and guests to a 25th anniversary event at the V&A in Dundee to celebrate 25 years of the organisation.
The waterside venue was the perfect location to bring together people who have helped the charity expand to where it is today. In the last year, HOS supported over 700 people who approached them for help.
The celebration on November 11 included speakers who were former clients of the charity. One former client, who is now a volunteer on the board, told her story of accessing a shared ownership scheme, to stay in a house that is suitable for her daughter’s needs. Another former client shared his experience as he found a wheelchair adapted home with help from the charity’s Homeless Housing Options project.
Olivia Lindsay, head of casework service, said: “It was so lovely to have our staff, board, volunteers and supporters all together to celebrate 25 years of Housing Options Scotland, and we are delighted that Shona Robison was able to attend and lend her support to what we do.”
HOS is now looking onward to the next 25 years of helping disabled people, older people and veterans explore their housing options in Scotland.
