Housing Options Scotland’s Military Matters service celebrates 10 years of helping veterans
Housing Options Scotland’s Military Matters (MM) service has been helping veterans to find their right home in the right place for 10 years.
Board members, staff, volunteers, and organisations that have supported the service along the way gathered yesterday at the Royal Scots Club in Edinburgh.
They were joined on the day by Scottish veterans commissioner Susie Hamilton and were able to view a recorded message from cabinet secretary for justice and veterans, Keith Brown MSP. Attendees also heard about the history of the service from board member Fraser Gilmore and Military Matters housing options broker Tessa Law.
A real highlight of the day was listening to two stories of veterans that have been helped by the service. Everyone heard Gordon’s story and watched a new client story filmed in Montrose where Walter found a home suitable for him and his family’s needs following his military service.
Ryan, Housing Options Scotland’s Military Matters manager said: “We were delighted to be able to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of our Military Matters service with our staff team, board members, clients and many of our supporters.
“We know how important it is for our veterans and those currently serving, to find the right home in the right place, and we look forward to continuing to support them to do that for the next 10 years too.
“We’re extremely proud of the work carried out over the last 10 years, but we could not have done it alone. I would like to thank everyone involved in the Military Matters service, past and present, and our many supporters who have helped us along the way.”
