Ilene Campbell named Professional of the Year at the Women in Housing Awards 2024
Ilene Campbell, chief executive at the Tenants Information Service (TIS), has received the top prize at the Women in Housing Awards 2024.
She won the award at the ceremony in Manchester on Monday 24 June in the Professional of the Year category for her commitment in steering TIS to become the leading organisation in Scotland focused on housing, community development, and engagement practices.
Ms Campbell has spent over 20 successful years as chief executive of TIS and in that time there has been major developments across the housing landscape. She has been instrumental in effecting positive change and contributing the national housing agenda to no end. Her leadership has had a profound impact on many, and her dedication to protect vital tenants’ rights and build strong, resilient communities is clear.
The Women in Housing judges panel said: “Ilene’s focus on tenant involvement and the importance of customer participation was brilliant to learn about.
“This drive has transferred to wider projects which have clearly catalysed positive change.
“She is a huge inspiration for women across the housing sector.”
The TIS team was proud to put forward the nomination for Ilene to showcase her outstanding commitment to the housing sector, leadership qualities, and dedication to go above and beyond to ensure tenants are at the forefront and pivotal in influencing national housing policy.
Alice Bovill, chair of the TIS board of directors was also recognised as a finalist at the event in the Lifetime Achievement in Housing category. A true inspiration, Alice has served a remarkable 28 years on the TIS board and has dedicated her time to improving housing and wider community services.
