JAMtastic fundraiser for Edinburgh care home
A regional manager at housing and care provider Blackwood who is renowned for her fundraising efforts is using her skills to host social community activities for residents.
Jenny Gardner previously helped raise a whopping £1000 for Broom Court Care Home in Stirling by selling jars of her homemade jam.
Now, Jenny has turned her talents to Blackwood’s Laura Fergusson Court Care Home in Edinburgh, to raise money to enable the home to begin hosting community events such as lunches and coffee mornings and give residents more time to socialise with each other.
The keen fundraiser will once again be selling her popular jars of jam, as well as holding bric-a-brac sales with the help of other support workers and hopes to raise as much money as possible for the cause.
Jenny told of how she felt inspired to fundraise to provide even more social activities and treats to Laura Fergusson Court.
Jenny said: “Community activities are important for the residents as they offer them the opportunity to spend time with one another by socialising in a relaxed setting.
“The jam was an instant hit and I enjoyed making it so much the last time I wanted to do it again and I am thrilled to see other Blackwood employees eager to help raise money too.”
Thanks to the efforts of Jenny and the support workers, the residents have already been able to enjoy a community lunch with another planned for the next couple of weeks.
Jenny added: “The lunch was a huge success and the residents really enjoyed themselves. It was great to see them enjoying one another’s company.
“Hearing this very positive feedback has made us even more determined to raise as much money as we possibly can.”
