Kingdom Housing Association joins Perth & Kinross Common Housing Register
People who apply for social housing through the Perth and Kinross Common Housing Register (CHR) will now have more choice after Kingdom Housing Association joined the register.
Around 150 Kingdom properties have been added to the CHR, joining properties let by other local social landlords Perth & Kinross Council, Caledonia Housing Association, Fairfield Housing Co-operative and Hillcrest Homes.
Collectively the five landlords will manage a housing stock of almost 11,700 affordable homes for rent and will continue to work closely together to meet housing need locally.
Fife-based Kingdom also has properties in the Perth and Kinross area, including the recent new-build developments at Bertha Park and Rattray adding to its pre-existing housing stock in the Perth, Kinross and Crieff areas.
Kingdom’s head of housing, Matthew Busher, said: “As Kingdom increases the number of homes that it provides for social rent in Perth & Kinross through its extensive development programme, joining the Common Housing Register is a logical step to providing applicants for social housing in the area with one clear and transparent route to apply for accommodation.
“It also continues the development of partnership working between Kingdom and Perth & Kinross Council, as well as partner RSLs, that is helping to deliver on local housing strategy objectives.”
Kingdom group chief executive, Bill Banks, added: “Kingdom is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year and I’m very proud of how much we’ve achieved over the last four decades.
“Kingdom has operated as a landlord in the Perth and Kinross area for many years but joining the Common Housing Register gives us even more opportunity to deliver on our strategic goal of providing ‘More Than A Home’ to local people.”
The CHR ensures that access to social housing is as easy as possible for residents of Perth and Kinross and gives them a wider choice or properties right across the area. Operating a CHR also means that there is a single point of access for housing applicants regardless of the organisation they approach for housing assistance.
