Kingdom Housing Association raises £4,750 for Andy’s Man Club
Kingdom Housing Association has raised £4,750 for men’s suicide prevention charity Andy’s Man Club.
Andy’s Man Club was selected by Kingdom’s staff to be their chosen charity throughout 2022 and 2023 and held various fundraising events throughout the partnership including raffles, bake sales and sporting sweepstakes. One event alone raised over £1,300 when Kingdom’s HR director Andrew Latto completed one of the UK’s most challenging marathons in Windermere.
Andy’s Man Club was set up in 2016 by Halifax man Luke Ambler whose brother-in-law Andrew Roberts took his own life after struggling with mental health problems. With its slogan ‘It’s okay to talk’, the club now has groups in over 150 locations nationwide meeting every Monday evening at 7pm.
Alex McClintock, senior project development champion with Andy’s Man Club, said: “Kingdom Housing Association has been a massive supporter for Andy’s Man Club over the last couple of years and has raised a fantastic amount of money which has helped us expand our groups across Fife and beyond.
“More importantly, the awareness that it has helped us raise within the Kingdom Group and across Fife is one that cannot be measured. Not only has it encouraged the staff to talk about their mental health but it has helped save lives with men walking through the doors of Andy’s Man Club to get support on a Monday evening and beyond. This has been an invaluable partnership that has benefited both organisations and a huge Andy’s Man Club thank you from us all for your support.”
Andrew Latto said: “I’m proud of how colleagues at Kingdom have got behind our fundraising efforts for Andy’s Man Club and delighted that we’ve been able to donate £4,750. The work being done by Andy’s Man Club to support men in our communities and end the stigma surrounding mental health is vital. I’m grateful to Alex for delivering really well-attended information sessions for our colleagues too.
“At Kingdom, we strive to be an employer of choice and supporting the mental wellbeing of our people is just one of the ways we achieve that.”
