Kingdom Housing Association was awarded the Environmental Best Practice prize by the annual campaign which aims to recognise, reward and promote environmental best practice around the world.

For over twenty years Kingdom’s Sustainability Policy has confirmed its commitment and dedication to placing sustainability at the heart of its policies, planning, decision making and operations.

From developing the first social rented house in the UK to achieve Passivhaus accreditation in Pittenweem to the inclusion of solar panels, grey water re-use, sun-stores and passive heat transfers in its properties, Kingdom’s approach to development not only delivers environmental benefits but also significant benefits for tenants including lower energy costs and improved health and wellbeing.

Bill Banks, Kingdom Group chief executive, said: “Winning a coveted Green Apple Award reflects the huge effort everyone at Kingdom makes to environmental best practice. Kingdom promotes a culture focused on educating, training and motivating staff to conduct their activities in a sustainable manner which benefits the environment, our tenants and the sector as a whole.”
