Kingdom’s work with schools recognised
Kingdom Housing Association’s work with Fife schools has been recognised by Fife Business Awards which has shortlisted the association for its Best Business & Education Partnership Award.
The Best Business & Education Partnership award is for businesses which have recognised and embraced the talent within local schools and education establishments and are working with pupils to positively develop aspects of their business enterprise.
Kingdom actively works with local schools when developing new housing projects. It aims to help promote sustainability, build links with businesses, raise awareness of health & safety on building sites, enable pupils to learn more about the construction industry and recognise the talent in schools. To date Kingdom Housing Association has worked with over 33 schools across Fife.
Bill Banks, Kingdom Housing Association chief executive, said: “The key to the success of the project is partnership and involves working closely with our main partners: Fife Council Schools, the Ecology Centre and the developers who deliver the Fife Housing Association Alliance capital programme.
“The partnership approach is consistent with Kingdom Housing Association’s sustainability and wider role objectives and is part of Kingdom Housing Association’s ongoing aim to deliver community benefits.”
Shirley English, deputy headteacher at Tanshall Primary School added: “Tanshall pupils and Kingdom Housing Association have been business partners for a number of years working together in the community and bringing the community into Tanshall. The children have been very privileged to participate in projects such as ‘Tanshall Rocks’ and ‘Fife Bench’.
“Teachers and pupils have been part of the creating, planning, designing and making teams leading to wonderful, worthwhile, ‘hands on’ experiences. The whole school from nursery children to Primary 7 children were able to learn skills for learning, skills for work and skills for life.”
The award ceremony will take place on Thursday 19 March at Rothes Halls and will be hosted by Fred MacAulay.
