All the houses are highly energy efficient, meeting the council’s commitment to tackle fuel poverty.
Cllr Judy Hamilton, executive spokesperson for housing & building services, visited the site to welcome the new tenants.
She said: “This is just one example of our housing developments, contributing towards our commitment to deliver 2,700 new affordable homes by May this year. And being built by Fife Council’s own Building Services, it gives opportunities for our apprentices to work alongside skilled workers and shows our commitment to investing in our construction industry and in a skilled workforce for the future.”
Cllr Hamilton added: “We are pleased with our progress on this and our pledge to provide warmer, drier, healthier homes that will help to alleviate fuel poverty and improve living standards for residents.”
New tenant Wendy Seath said: “Since moving from a two bedroom house into a three bedroom, we have gained a lot more living space as well as an extra bedroom. We now have a kitchen/diner and my dining table doesn’t need to sit in the living room.
“My son who is almost two years old has his own bedroom for the first time. He used to share with us but now he’s more settled with his own space and sleeps longer. My older sons also have a bedroom big enough for them to be able to relax in and they enjoy spending time in it. Having a bathroom upstairs as well as downstairs is amazing and I don’t have to fight the boys to get in!”
