Latest round of community grants now open in East Dunbartonshire
Organisations are being invited to apply for funding from East Dunbartonshire Council’s Community Grants Scheme.
The latest round is open until Friday 10 January 2025, for more information and to apply visit the website.
Sense Scotland recently received support to help enhance its facility in Bishopbriggs – TouchBase Dunbartonshire.
The charity is a specialist social care provider – supporting people of all ages who have communication needs associated with complex and sensory disabilities, and their families.
Day service manager Angela Doherty, said: “We were delighted to receive funding to refurbish and upgrade the multi-sensory room here at TouchBase Dunbartonshire – creating a space which offers rewarding and enjoyable experiences, combining relaxation and stimulation. The work wouldn’t have been possible without the grant.
“The project has had an extremely positive impact and is popular with the many people we support – from throughout East Dunbartonshire – with benefits for health and wellbeing. We also work with community organisations who manage supported accommodation and respite services.”
The Community Grant helped to pay for a range of equipment, including a bubble tube, mirror, soft play wall pad, musical touch wall, LED sound star, infinity tunnel and UV light. Padding is also being fitted to walls in the tactile room, which provides rebound therapy using a large trampoline.
Organisations can apply for a grant of up to £5,000 or £10,000. The maximum, over the course of a year, a group can ask for is £15,000.
The online form, guidance and eligibility criteria can be found on the council website.
Applications are being invited from groups which:
- Have a constitution
- Have a bank account
- Are not-for-profit
- Aim to bring benefits to the residents of East Dunbartonshire.
Funding can be sought for start-up costs, special projects, equipment and salaries.
Councillor Gordan Low, leader of East Dunbartonshire Council, said: “The Grants Scheme aims to empower groups making a positive difference at the heart of our local communities – supporting projects which increase inclusion, participation and wellbeing.
“We’re here to help where we can. Visit the website to apply or get in touch to find out more.”
