Leith outdoor art project wins equality & diversity award
Quay Community Improvements and Port of Leith Housing Association (PoLHA) have won the Best Practice in Equality and Diversity Award at the Tenant Participation Advisory Service Scotland National Good Practice Awards 2018.
The Window Wanderland Leith project delivered by Quay and PoLHA caught the attention of the judges for bringing together a wide range of people of differed ages, cultures and backgrounds.
Window Wanderland saw the streets of Leith be transformed into outdoor art galleries in March this year, giving residents and business owners the chance to work together to decorate their windows. Participants worked with local artists to create their window displays.
Clare Halliday, business & communities initiatives manager at Quay, said: “We’re all very proud of Window Wanderland Leith and the wonderful opportunity it created for people to get to know other members of their community. The free art trail made people smile on a snowy night in March. You can’t ask for more than that. We’re thrilled to have received this award.”
