An unsightly derelict area of Leven has been transformed into affordable housing as part of the town centre’s regeneration programme.

Fife Council’s senior housing manager, Alan Russell, and Jacqui Sinclair, housing professional for affordable housing & regeneration, visited the site where the remaining properties are expected to be completed around mid-June.

Jacqui Sinclair said: “The location of this area for social housing is great, being close to amenities and in walking distance of the High Street, bus station, leisure facilities and beach.”

Alan Russell added: “It’s great to see people settling into new, good quality, rented accommodation that fits their needs. Over the last five years Fife Council has invested over £150m in affordable housing across Fife and, despite significant financial challenges, we will continue to invest in more good quality housing to meet local needs.

“Not only are these new homes transforming the lives of the tenants who move into them, it’s freeing up their old homes for rent to others in housing need too.”

The development at North Street comprises 14 units which are a mix of one and two-bedroomed room cottage flats and two and three bedroomed houses.
