Link and C~urb deliver life-changing homes in East Calder
A new affordable housing development of 75 homes delivered by social landlord Link and its partner organisation C~urb are improving lives in East Calder.
Patrica Jarvis is one of the people benefiting from a home at the Raw Holdings development.
Mrs Jarvis said: “I wanted to move purely for the fact I would be closer to family who stay in the village that I am now living in, so that we have got a better support network.”
Mrs Jarvis added one of the things that she was most excited about when she saw her new home for the first time was visualising how it would look once she moved in.
She said: “Quality of life has totally improved because I’m seeing family a lot more. I can help out with my younger niece and nephew if my sister needs assistance. People can pop in, they can walk here instead of having to drive.”
Mrs Jarvis was supported throughout her move by the Link Housing team and noted: “The staff have been absolutely brilliant in all aspects from start to finish.”
Raw Holdings consists of 42 homes for social rent, managed by Link Housing, and a further 33 for mid-market rent, which will be let by C~urb Lettings.
Sarah Smith, Link Group communities director, commented: “Having a home where you feel comfortable, relaxed, and is somewhere you enjoy living in is so important. We are committed to building homes and creating communities which improve people’s lives. These objectives are in line with the Scottish Government’s Housing to 2040 route map and are supported by Link’s Sustainable Communities Strategy.
“I’m delighted with the progress that is being made at Raw Holdings, and it is wonderful to see tenants like Patricia already feeling the benefit of living in a home which meets their needs.”
The development has been funded in partnership between Link, City of Edinburgh Council and the Scottish Government.
To date, 30 of the affordable rent homes and 10 of the Mid-Market Rent homes have been completed and handed over to Link. The remainder will be available in phases between now and the final handovers in October 2024.
