Link Group completes £2.5m refurbishment of former Glasgow student flats
Link Group Ltd has recently completed the £2.5 million comprehensive refurbishment of properties at Buccleuch Street, Glasgow.
The properties were originally built by Link in 1980 as student cluster flats. The works comprised the refurbishment of these multiple occupancy properties into 26 self-contained flats for social and mid-market rent.
The contractor, Keepmoat Regeneration Ltd, provided a range of jobs, work placements, apprenticeships and training opportunities throughout the development period.
This complied with Link’s Community Benefits requirements set by Construction Skills Scotland, and fulfilled Link’s obligations as a National Skills Academy for Construction.
Link is extending its commitment to providing more affordable housing in the Glasgow area by building 49 properties for social rent in Eastfields, Carntyne.
This £6.4 million new build development comprises a mixture of flats and houses. The new dwellings will be completed by Bellway Homes in phases between August 2016 and January 2017.
Both developments have been funded by combination of grants from Glasgow City Council and finance provided by Link.
