Link staff gearing up for LinkGiving volunteering initiative
Staff from across Link are finalising preparations for its annual project which gives staff the opportunity to go the extra mile to help make a difference to the local communities in which the group has a presence.
The LinkGiving initiative involves staff giving up some time from work to take part in voluntary activities to benefit local communities.
The initiative was established in 2009 and since then teams of Link employees have worked on a variety of projects, ranging from redecorating hostels for homeless people in Edinburgh, cleaning a stretch of the Forth and Clyde canal in Falkirk, improving the grounds at Camphill Blair Drummond to creating a garden space at the Hayfield Centre in Glasgow.
Link’s vision is to improve the lives of more people, so this year LinkGiving is bigger and better with a range of projects and activities on offer during the coming months.
The first projects in this year’s LinkGiving include staff helping out at a social cafe for people with dementia, a makeover of the garden at a sheltered housing complex, volunteering at a community cafe and a toy / bike and clothes drive for local charities.
Ross Martin, Link chair, said: “Link’s aim is to ‘improve the lives of more people’ and once again we are delighted that LinkGiving is giving us the opportunity to be able to do this.”
