LinkLiving’s Better than Well service launches in Fife

LinkLiving has launched a new service in Fife for people over the age of 16 who have been affected by childhood trauma.

The Better than Well service, which is funded by the Scottish Government’s Survivor Support and Development fund, helps people living in the Kirkcaldy and Levenmouth areas who have found it difficult to engage with other services.

It also runs seminars and learning events to increase awareness of the impact of childhood trauma and to encourage people to get involved with its work.

People who access the service receive eight one-to-one sessions with a self-help coach while they learn useful coping strategies for managing the effects of trauma. The self-help coaches also work with them to access new opportunities and additional services.

Sarah Smith, director of LinkLiving, said: “We understand trauma as a broad range of traumatic, abusive or neglectful experiences that can be highly threatening and lead to feelings of fear and helplessness. We want to help people recognise and understand the symptoms of trauma, and equip them with skills to positively manage its negative impacts so they can achieve a better quality of life.”

LinkLiving is now accepting referrals for the Better than Well service. Visit www.linkliving.org.uk or call 01592 644 048 to find out more.
