Link’s Dunbeg development shortlisted for national development award
Link Group Ltd’s development at MacVicar Court, Dunbeg has been shortlisted for the ‘Best affordable housing development (rural and suburban)’ at the Inside Housing Development Awards 2017.
The only Scottish nominee in the category, MacVicar Court comprises 25 homes for social rent including one and two-bedroom flats, two-bedroom semi-detached / mid terrace houses and three-bedroom end terraced houses.
The properties are managed by Link’s subsidiary West Highland Housing Association.
MacVicar Court is a prelude to Link’s masterplan for the Dunbeg area where 600 new homes will be built in a sensitive expansion of the existing communities of Dunbeg and Ganavan.
Roy Stirrat, Link Group chair, said: “I am delighted that MacVicar Court has been shortlisted for the ‘Best affordable housing development (rural and suburban)’ award. It is especially pleasing as this is the first time that we have been nationally recognised for one of our developments. Our aim is to build homes that are places that our tenants want to live - whilst designing homes that are visually stimulating, durable, adaptable and affordable to construct and to run. So, being shortlisted for this award is testament to this commitment.
“We must also congratulate Scottish social housing providers on being finalists in other categories – Glasgow Housing Association, Bield Housing and Care and Kingdom Housing Association.”
The Inside Housing Development Awards offer a chance for the industry to celebrate those outstanding residential developments from across the UK. A panel of expert judges will be presenting the final awards on 23 November 2017.
Earlier this year, Link was included for the first time in the Inside Housing ‘Top 50 Biggest Builders’ list. Link was the highest placed Scottish housing association at number 37 in the ‘Top 50 Biggest Builders: Completions’ chart and appeared at number 9 in the list of most prolific suppliers of new homes for social rent.
