Linstone Housing extends temporary contracts of seven young workers
Seven young workers at Linstone Housing have been given an employment boost after excelling in their roles.
The seven - who work on the housing association’s estates team - have been a huge hit with tenants thanks to their enthusiasm and dedication to their roles.
Now the board of management at Linstone has delighted the seven – all from Renfrewshire - by extending their temporary contracts for a further 18 months giving them job security and regular earnings.
Linstone said it is a reward for showing dedication, hard work and commitment to serving the housing association and the wider community.
Their time at Linstone was due to end soon but the board were so impressed they wanted them to carry on.
There is currently a team of 12 including five permanent staff carrying out the estates work with the seven young people all aged between 17 and 27.
They earn the Scottish Living Wage and are gaining vital training and job skills while working for Linstone.
One of the workers, Eilidh Crampsey, said: “We’re delighted to be staying on at Linstone. An extra 18 months of work is perfect for us and we all enjoy what we do very much.”
Connor McGregor, another worker, added: “We like meeting the tenants and helping them when we can. The work we do has shown us that the good work done by a housing association like Linstone is so important.”
David Adam, Linstone’s director of housing and property services, said the response from tenants to the work done by the young people had been “overwhelmingly positive”.
He said: “All seven bring enthusiasm and dedication to the roles. They have been an instant hit with our tenants who are delighted with their work.”
Adele Fraser, Linstone’s chief executive, added: “We have been deeply impressed by our magnificent seven. The Board of Linstone enthusiastically extended their contracts to give them another 18 months of work with us.
“Their commitment to the roles ensures we deliver a first-rate estates service to our tenants which in turns keeps the community looking good. We know that this environmental work matters greatly to our tenants. In addition, young people are receiving valuable training in jobs they enjoy while giving them a taste of a working life.”
