Local MSP meets residents of Saltcoats sheltered housing development
Kenneth Gibson MSP met with residents of a Hanover Scotland sheltered housing development in Saltcoats as part of a tour to view a series of major upgrades and improvements to the fabric of the building.
Residents were happy to show Mr Gibson the renovation works, which include brand new front doors, gutters and downpipes as well as full external wall insulation, new windowsill covers and complete roof cleaning and repairs, telling him they were “highly delighted” with the work in terms of appearance and ease of heating.
Eglinton Court is made up of 24 flats over seven, two-storey blocks and the improvement works have raised each individual flat’s Energy Efficiency Rating to a Band C, helping to reduce energy costs.
Commenting after the visit, Kenneth Gibson MSP said: “It was great to meet with residents of Hanover Scotland’s Eglington Court and see first-hand the major improvements that have been made to the development. These works have made a really positive impact to the lives of the residents and I am delighted to have had the opportunity to be shown around.”
Janice MacDonald, enhanced housing manager for Hanover Scotland, said: “I would like to thank Mr Gibson for taking the time to visit our marvellous development. The works have not only enhanced the appearance of the development itself and raised our Energy Efficiency Rating, but have improved the quality of life for our tenants, made a marked improvement in the surrounding environment and led to increased interest from local people – a win-win scenario.”
