Local MSP visits new Persimmon development in Muirhead
Coatbridge and Chryston MSP Fulton MacGregor visited Persimmon’s Royale Meadow development to see the benefits of the new homes being built in Muirhead and discuss the company’s commitment to investment across North Lanarkshire.
Persimmon’s Royale Meadow development is now in the second phase of development, which will see 292 energy-efficient new homes built. The development will see 44 of the new homes transferred to Sanctuary Scotland. The site includes a mixture of two, three and four-bedroom new homes, which have been specifically designed to meet the needs of the local housing market.
The second phase of development at Royale Meadow will include over £1.2m worth of investment within the area which includes £140,000 of new play park equipment for new and existing residents as well as £200,000 towards road improvements within the local area.
Local MSP Fulton MacGregor was given a tour of the development and met with the local Persimmon team to discuss the opportunities and challenges facing the housing sector.
Fulton MacGregor MSP said: “It’s great to see the constituency benefit from more high-quality housing from Persimmon – especially as some of these houses will be much-needed social housing.
“I’ve seen with previous developments that Persimmon are really keen to invest in the local area and community projects – it’s great to see the same here with the investment in play parks and road improvements taking place.
“I am really impressed by the development so far and I encourage Persimmon to keep up the good work so that the community can carry on benefiting from projects such as this.”
Chris Logan, Persimmon West Scotland managing director, added: “We have a real commitment to Muirhead – from building much-needed new homes, to creating jobs, and investing in the local community. It was great to welcome Fulton to Royale Meadow to show him how our plans will benefit local residents.
“With around half of our customers first-time buyers, and the average price of our homes 16% below the average price of a new-build in Scotland, we’re proud to be creating more opportunities for local families to own their own home.
“Royale Meadow has already become a vibrant, successful new community and we’re confident that the new phase of development will further improve the local area.”
