The planning application includes a wide-range of new homes – from two-bedrooms up to five-bedrooms – that incorporate a focus on energy efficiency and have been specifically designed to meet the needs of the local housing market.

The original proposal for 171 homes has been reduced to 152 in response to views expressed by local residents that prioritised reducing density on the development. Changes have also been made to the site layout to increase the spacing between new and existing homes, while landscaped corridors on the site’s boundaries have been extended.

Areas of open public space remain a feature of the proposals, while detailed Flood Risk Assessment and Drainage Strategy Reports have been submitted confirming the positive impact the site would have on the area’s flood resilience.

The Dunkeld Road site, which has been allocated for housing in the Council’s Local Development Plan, has already received planning permission in principle. During the Local Development Plan process, the impact of the proposed development on local services – including NHS capacity – was considered and not found to be a barrier to the delivery much-needed new homes in the area.

The investment in Blairgowrie would see Persimmon make a contribution in excess of £800,000

to support local schools. It is also estimated that the development would create nearly 100 local jobs each year in the construction sector, with a further 70 in the local supply chain.
