Lochalsh & Skye Housing Association has just opened two new homes for rent on the Isle of Raasay.

The Association homes sit alongside a further three provided for rent by the Raasay Development Trust. The homes were built on land provided by the Raasay Sheep Stock Club.

Alastair MacGregor, interim chief executive, said: “I am delighted that we have been able to provide, along with the trust five desperately needed homes for affordable rent. They are going to young people who have committed their future to Raasay and it’s so important in keeping population on the island.”

Ian Young, chair of Lochalsh & Skye Housing Association’s board, added: “I would like to thank everyone who made this possible, the Raasay Sheep Stock Club, the Scottish Government, the Highland Council, James McQueen Builders and the design team.”

The Association plans to build a further six properties for affordable rent on an adjacent site it has recently acquired next to the completed new build.
