Loreburn Housing Association and DGFirst enter into new repairs contract
Loreburn Housing Association has cemented its successful working relationship with DGFirst after securing a contract for the delivery of Repairs and Gas Servicing.
DG First will offer a service to Loreburn’s 2,500 customers across Dumfries and Galloway.
A celebration event was held on earlier this month to mark the award of the contracts and outline the importance of the first class service that DGFirst will offer to Loreburn’s customers.
Loreburn’s convenor, John McNaught said that by working together, Loreburn and DGFirst can provide a great service to Loreburn’s customers and opportunities for local young people through apprenticeships and training programmes.
He said: “On behalf of Loreburn I would firstly like to congratulate DGFirst on their success securing the Reactive Repairs and Gas Safety Contract following a competitive tender process. We very much look forward to working together in the future to create great homes for Loreburn’s customers.”
Loreburn Housing Association has been providing affordable housing throughout Dumfries & Galloway since 1982 and now owns and manages over 2,500 properties across the region. Loreburn has an ambition to make a positive difference to its customers and is committed to creating great places to live and work together with its partners.
Loreburn’s chief executive, Lorraine Usher, added: “Loreburn is delighted to be entering into the contracts with DGFirst. The contracts also offer an exciting opportunity for both Loreburn and DG First to expand the opportunities they offer young people and to retain talent within Dumfries and Galloway. Both organisations are strongly committed to the development of local young people. Loreburn are proud that this year through these contracts we can offer a total of 12 apprenticeship opportunities, seven with DGFirst and five with Loreburn. A great career opportunity for local young people.”
The celebration event was attended by Loreburn and DG First staff and apprentices. Councillor Archie Dryburgh, chairman of DGFirst Management Committee, also attended and said: “I’m delighted that the council’s DGFirst was successful in tendering for this contract. This shows that DGFirst is competitive, fit for purpose, and capable of delivering first class service.
“This contract will enable us to deliver a first class level of service for Loreburn Housing Association’s customers. Building the local economy is a priority for our council and this contract will provide job security for vital building trades across our region and gives us the opportunity to develop apprentices for these trades, delivering economic and other benefits. Over the last 12 years, DGFirst and Loreburn Housing Association have worked successfully as partners and I’m pleased that this mutually beneficial relationship is continuing.”
