Loreburn launches Stranraer Breakfast Club
Loreburn Housing Association has announced that its very first Breakfast Club commenced on earlier this month at Belmont Primary school in Stranraer and will run every Monday and Wednesday morning throughout the 2016/17 school term.
Breakfast Clubs provide an ideal opportunity for children to have a healthy morning meal in a secure friendly environment, and raise their awareness of good nutrition, personal well-being and how to establish a healthy lifestyle.
In line with the Scottish Government’s ‘Better Eating, Better Learning’ initiative, clubs such as these not only promote health and nutrition, they can improve children’s’ ability to learn, concentration levels, attendance levels and punctuality.
As Stranraer was highlighted as an area for concern in the recent Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation, Loreburn was keen to do what it can to address issues such as food poverty and education.
Tesco Stranraer and Simpsons Bakers have been instrumental in enabling Loreburn to take the project forward with Belmont Primary school.
