Housing developer Lovell has received the President’s Award from national safety charity The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) for its superb health and safety record over the past 12 years.

The accolade in the RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards 2016 – celebrating their 60th anniversary this year – recognises Lovell’s achievement of 12 consecutive RoSPA Gold awards. It honours the company’s commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards and rigorous safety management systems at its construction sites and offices across Scotland.

The award was presented to Lovell in a ceremony at the Hilton Glasgow hotel.

It recognises their commitment to maintaining an excellent health and safety record and raises the bar for other organisations to aspire to. We offer them our congratulations.”

Lovell health and safety advisor, Calum McKay, added: “The presentation of the RoSPA President’s Award underlines Lovell’s continuing commitment to upholding the most stringent health and safety standards across our sites and offices. I’m delighted that the professionalism and hard work of both the company team and our subcontractors have won this important recognition from leading safety charity RoSPA.”

Lovell is undertaking a number of major Scottish housing projects, including £67 million of work through West Lothian Council’s new-build social housing programme where it will create 757 new council homes for the local authority across 17 sites.

The company is also building a £6.7m development of 48 homes for open market sale at Cherry Hill, Larkhall, South Lanarkshire. Other schemes include a £6m, 55-home, mixed tenure development in Moodiesburn, North Lanarkshire, with Link Group Ltd. Lovell is also working on the £8.1m second phase of a major new-build housing development for Places for People at Wester Hailes, Edinburgh.
