Mactaggart & Mickel appoints first female MD and unveils new brand identity
Housebuilder Mactaggart & Mickel has announced a significant new appointment as homes director Joanne Casey takes on the newly created role of managing director of its Homes England division.
The appointment makes her the first woman MD in the history of Mactaggart & Mickel, and follows a decade of success with the company in Scotland, as the board director responsible for sales, marketing and architecture. Her earlier career spans sales and marketing roles for leading UK housebuilders.
Joanne is credited with transforming customer care for Mactaggart & Mickel; she was instrumental in securing a coveted Five Star rating for customer satisfaction from the Home Builders Federation. She also played a major role in successfully marketing homes at the former Glasgow 2014 Athletes’ Village on behalf of the City Legacy Consortium, which sold out two years ahead of schedule.
The announcement comes as Mactaggart & Mickel also unveils its new brand identity today – one that Casey has been at the forefront of developing. The group, which was established in 1925, has diversified over the years and now includes seven divisions: Homes, Timber Systems, Investments, Strategic Land, Commercial Property, Lettings and Contracts. The company’s new branding will now be streamlined into the same corporate marque for all divisions to strengthen their identity as the housebuilder establishes a presence in the English housebuilding market.
Joanne will continue in her current role while spearheading the housebuilder’s growing presence in England from its strategic base in Cheltenham as marketing of the first development of new homes in England – at Milton-under-Wychwood in Oxfordshire – will begin in the first part of 2019.
Joanne Casey said: “I am very much looking forward to leading the talented team in Cheltenham. We have ambitious plans to market our homes across Oxfordshire. As we mapped out our strategy to expand into new markets, it became apparent that streamlining our identity into one marque was the clearest path to successfully grow the brand. It’s an exciting time for the next chapter of Mactaggart & Mickel as we roll out our new unified brand and expand our homes offering in England.”
Mactaggart & Mickel chief executive, Ed Monaghan, said: “Throughout her time with Mactaggart & Mickel, Joanne has consistently delivered strong leadership and the success that has spurred our growth across Scotland, while epitomizing our commitment to quality and service excellence.
“As the first ever managing director of our English Homes division, I have no doubt that Joanne will be the ideal leader for our Cheltenham-based team; continuing the excellent work of colleagues in bringing forward some outstanding English developments.”
