Mactaggart & Mickel helps fund vital support for seriously ill children and families
Housebuilder Mactaggart & Mickel has donated £1,000 toward Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity’s (ECHC) Rainbow Box project.
ECHC carries out vital work to help seriously ill babies, children and young people in hospital by supporting their medical care, mental health and the family’s wellbeing. The Rainbow Box project aims to relieve some of the pressures families feel when nursing a seriously ill child, by encouraging interaction and distraction during the most difficult times.
The donation will cover the cost of a year’s supply of Rainbow Boxes, which will provide calm and comfort to 100 families.
Olivia Dowler-Penn, corporate partnerships fundraiser at Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity, said: “We appreciate all donations large and small, but a donation of this size means the world to us. The Rainbow Box project helps families within the Edinburgh community, providing a little bit of light in the darkest of times. We’re extremely grateful to Mactaggart & Mickel for the generous donation and allowing us to continue our vital work helping children, young people and their families from the moment they begin their hospital journey.”
Joanne Casey, director at Mactaggart & Mickel, added: “We are very proud to support charities doing vitally important work in the communities where we build. The Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity provides fundamental support to families going through extremely difficult times, creating memorable experiences that will be treasured forever.”
