Major residential development proposed for Dundonald

A new housing development is being planned for a 12.5-hectare site in Dundonald, South Ayrshire.

The early-stage proposal, submitted by Ayr-based planning consultant DenhamYoud on behalf of Hope Consultancy Ltd, has been designated as a major development under Scottish planning regulations. While the exact number of units is yet to be confirmed, the proposal includes residential housing along with associated infrastructure at the junction of Kilmarnock Road and Tarbolton Road.

As part of the statutory pre-application process, DenhamYoud has lodged a Proposal of Application Notice (PAN), which has now been approved by South Ayrshire Council. The PAN signals the start of public engagement and sets the framework for community consultation before a formal planning application is submitted.

Two public consultation events at Montgomerie Hall, 60 Main Street, Dundonald, have been scheduled as follows:

  • Tuesday, April 29 | 2:30 PM – 7:30 PM
  • Thursday, May 15 | 2:30 PM – 7:30 PM

Local residents, community representatives, and stakeholders, including Dundonald Primary School, are being encouraged to attend, provide input, and engage with the development team.

According to the consultation documents: “Feedback will be gathered via comment forms available at the events, and responses can also be submitted electronically within seven days after each session via email to: dundonald@denhamyoud.com.”

Following the public engagement process, a detailed planning application will be submitted to South Ayrshire Council, at which point formal representations can be made through the council’s planning portal.

Further details regarding housing typologies, site layout, and infrastructure provision are expected as the application progresses through consultation.
