Maryhill HA secures funding for financial inclusion work
Tenants of Maryhill Housing Association are set to benefit from the continued work of its Financial Inclusion Service following new grants.
The housing association has won £155,161 in funding to support its financial inclusion work - including £117,819 from the Scottish Legal Aid Board and a further £37,342 from the Scottish Government’s People & Communities Fund.
The four-person financial inclusion team at the housing association, which is already funded by SLAB’s “Making Advice Work” fund and the Big Lottery Fund in Scotland, has won as much as £2.1 million for tenants in backdated benefits and grants.
A spokesperson for Maryhill Housing Association said: “This is great news because it will literally help the communities we serve in Maryhill and Ruchill. Our Financial Inclusion Service has struck a chord with our tenants because they know they have somewhere to turn when they need advice on a range of money-related matters.
“The £2.1 million we have obtained for tenants shows how we can lend a helping hand and help people to find benefits to which they are entirely entitled. It all goes to show that housing associations like Maryhill do so much more than simply collecting the rent and are always putting their communities first.”
