McKernan Homes secures approval for flats at former Glasgow cinema
McKernan Homes Ltd has been granted approval for plans to build 24 two-bedroom flats on vacant land at the site of a former 1920s cinema in Dennistoun, Glasgow.
Glasgow City Council has agreed that the developer can build the new homes at Meadowpark Street/Marne Street, near Alexandra Parade.
The Parade Cinema opened at the site in 1921.
The Jewitt & Wilkie Architects designs will see two four-storey blocks, one on each side of the site, with parking and landscaping in between.
Each flat will have cycle storage and fourteen car parking spaces will be provided.
A document submitted with the application states: “The proposed development would contribute towards the creation of a vibrant and accessible residential neighbourhood.
“The proposal would see the development of a vacant plot which is in poor condition.”
