Mike Martin named new chairperson at Langstane
Langstane Housing Association has appointed Mike Martin as its new chairperson.
Mike joined Langstane’s board in January 2019 and brings with him a wealth of experience in social housing and the care sectors.
Handing over the reigns to Mike, Langstane’s outgoing chairperson, James Knowles, said: “I am delighted Mike has accepted the position of chairperson. Although I have enjoyed the last five years, I’m looking forward to supporting Mike as he leads Langstane forward during these ever-changing times.”
Mike Martin, chairperson, said: “It is a great privilege to become the chair of Langstane, a privilege but also a considerable responsibility, particularly given the challenging times we are going to face over the next few years.
“My objective is to ensure we sustain the strengths of the organisation, maintain a secure financial base so we can continue to provide good quality homes and services while also seeking to innovate and develop to continually improve the range and quality of our homes and support services. A big challenge for us all, but one I am looking forward to embracing along with my fellow Board members.”
Helen Gauld, chief executive of Langstane Housing Association, added: “We are delighted to welcome Mike Martin as Langstane’s new chairperson. Mike’s experience will be invaluable during such a critical time for the sector and for our tenants. It is comforting to know Mike will steer the Association in the right direction as we navigate through the cost of living and energy crisis.
“I would also like to thank James Knowles for his time as chairperson. During a turbulent few years, James’ experience and support have proven invaluable and we are delighted he has chosen to remain as a member of our board of management.”
With more than 2,800 properties throughout Aberdeen city, Aberdeenshire and Moray, Langstane Housing Association provides housing and services that promote social inclusion and generate sustainable communities.
