Misia Jack
With great sadness, Scotland’s Housing Network (SHN) has announced that its much-loved colleague Misia Jack passed away peacefully at home in the early hours of Friday 13th May after a long and brave fight with brain cancer.
Misia was not only a valued colleague but also a friend to many within the housing sector, following a career that spanned three decades.
Misia’s specialisms rested in performance improvement and achieving sustainable development in social housing. Misia was an early adopter and advocate for sustainability before it became as popular as it is today.
Angela Currie, CEO Hanover and former SHN director, said: “Having worked closely with Misia for nearly 10 years I was always inspired by her passion and enthusiasm for high quality sustainable housing. Misia was instrumental in developing Scotland’s approach to EESSH and we will remember her for this and the many other positive influences she had. She was one of the most hard working, caring and kind people I’ve ever met – she will be greatly missed.”
Educated both in Poland in Lodz University and in the UK where she studied Town and Country Planning and a Post Graduate Diploma in housing at Heriot-Watt University which she secured with distinction. Misia worked in housing during all of her professional career – as a development manager at Partick Housing Association, as an independent researcher, as a policy maker at the Scottish Federation of Housing Associations and as a trainer for CIH, A+DS, SHARE and others. She joined Scotland’s Housing Network in 2011 where she worked as a Service Improvement Manager until her retirement in 2020.
Misia will be remembered for her bright smile, her commitment and passion for sustainable social housing, and for her kindness.
Misia’s funeral will be held on Friday 20th May 2022, as below, for anyone who would like to pay their respects to Misia. Post funeral arrangements are yet to be confirmed.
