Held on Tuesday night at the Tron Theatre in Glasgow, the 25th anniversary AGM was hailed as a fantastic night, well attended by shareholders and guests.

In his report chairperson Andrew Scott noted that the AGM took place at the end of a very busy and eventful year for MPHA and at the beginning of a very special one as it celebrates its twenty-fifth anniversary. He went on to acknowledge that the Association has achieved a lot: having transformed communities, engaged successfully with tenants and service users, developed a reputation for innovative design and delivered high quality services that are well-regarded by tenants and factored owners.

Director Julie Smillie then gave a presentation entitled ‘The First 25 Years’ which charted the history of the Association and its many achievements. The presentation also took time to look at the Association’s developments and housing stock. It concluded by looking forward to ‘the next 25 years’ and highlighted the Association’s commitment to continued investment in its properties and communities, its obligations to meet standards and to ensure good governance, and it’s desire to strive for excellence.

The chairperson also thanked two Co-optees for their contribution over the last year as they stepped down before the AGM.

Three new members Paul Mann, Catherine Meighan and Angela Wood were then elected to the management committee. The elections came as a result of a recruitment campaign by the Association earlier in the year.

Chairperson Andrew Scott said the aim was to strengthen the committee and to bring a wide range of skills to the table.

He added: “The new elected committee members have a wealth of skills between them, including accountancy, architecture and experience of the social housing sector.

“I have no doubt that the skills being brought by the new members will enhance and compliment the extensive skills already evident on the committee and will ensure that the highest level of governance will be demonstrated along with a desire to continue deliver a first class service for our communities.”

Having been registered in July 1993, MPHA held a 25th anniversary party for its sheltered housing residents at Drakemire Avenue in July this year.

In a night filled with food, music, dancing and plenty of singing, and even reports that the last resident left for home at 3.30am.

A competition was also held with local primary schools to design a 25th anniversary logo. MPHA was blown away by the response and the enthusiasm of the kids. Judging was difficult but Kara from Dalmarnock Primary School was agreed as an eventual winner.

It was felt her entry encapsulated community and was bright, happy and positive.

The schools who participated were Dalmarnock Primary, St Anne’s Primary and St Dennis Primary. All schools received a donation from the Association to boost their much needed funds. There were 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes – all three kids received a prize from the Association. The winning logo will feature on all the Association’s communications for the duration of the anniversary year.
