Moray Council approves tenant participation strategy
A Tenant Participation Strategy, which sets out how Moray Council will involve tenants to influence and review housing services, has been approved at a meeting of the local authority’s Housing and Community Safety Committee.
A consultation on the draft Tenant Participation Strategy 2024-2029 ran from 22 November 2023 to 16 February 2024. Feedback was gathered through an online survey and the Moray Tenants’ Forum, which led to the strategy being adopted by elected members.
The strategy comes after a renewed commitment to the Social Housing Charter by the local authority, which sets the standards and outcomes social landlords should achieve for their tenants. The revised document further commits Moray Council to working with tenants to achieve a good working relationship and increased input from tenants.
The most recent survey on the substance of the strategy saw 99% of respondents supporting the revised strategy, with 95% finding the document easy to read and understand.
Chair of the Housing and Community Safety Committee, Amber Dunbar, said: “We want to continue to develop participation opportunities with a focus on increasing levels of involvement, especially from our under-represented groups.
“I’m pleased that the revised Tenant Participation Strategy had been approved as this is a direct way for social housing tenants to influence the development of future housing policy. We look forward to developing that relationship with our tenants over the coming years.”
