More than half of houses in parts of the East Neuk of Fife are classed as second homes, The Courier reports.

In Earlsferry, 54% of houses are second homes, the second-highest figure in Scotland behind Largs Central and Cumbrae in North Ayrshire.

The figure is 32% for Elie and around 20% for Crail.

Mark Ruskell, Green MSP for Mid Scotland and Fife, has called for the Scottish Parliament to legislate to allow councils to make second homes subject to change of use orders.
