Chris Kane MP saw first-hand the progress being made in delivering more than 750 new homes at South Stirling Gateway on a visit to the site.

The Stirling and Strathallan representative was welcomed to the Persimmon Homes development, which is located between Bannockburn and the Pirnhall M9 junction, by East Scotland managing director Neil Parry. The recently-elected MP heard how the new homes will benefit the community and create new employment and training opportunities for local people.

The development received detailed planning permission from Stirling Council last year and work is now well underway on the site, which will provide a range of two-, three- and four-bedroom homes that will be suitable for first-time buyers and growing families, as well as downsizers. Of the 750 new homes, 188 will be specifically allocated to help local people in housing need.

The plans include funding for a brand-new primary school, major road upgrades – including new junctions on the A91 and A872 – and over £500,000 to support local healthcare facilities. New play parks and areas of open public space will be key features of the development, which will also support city-wide transport improvements and upgrades to active travel routes.

It is estimated that the development will create around 200 jobs in the construction sector, with a further 150 in services and other local firms.

Chris Kane MP said: “This is a significant development, which will make a real impact in terms of new and affordable housing, as well as infrastructure development.

“It is great to see the site taking shape, as well as to hear about Persimmon’s continued commitment to employment and training opportunities, which I know will be welcomed locally.”

Neil Parry, Persimmon East Scotland managing director, said: “South Stirling Gateway is a major growth opportunity for the area and it was great to have Chris on site to see the progress that’s being made in creating a successful and sustainable new community.

“As well as creating more affordable routes to home ownership for local families, our investment will generate a number of other community benefits – from a new primary school to road upgrades and new active travel routes. We’re delighted that work is now well underway and looking forward to seeing the development deliver real benefits for the local community.”
