Muirhouse celebrates 30 years with summer days out
Families enjoyed fun-filled summer days out as part of Muirhouse Housing Association’s 30th anniversary celebrations.
To mark the milestone, Muirhouse tenants in north Edinburgh were invited to depict how they would spend a family day out.
The winners of the art competition for under 16s could then choose to turn that into reality with a trip – also paid for by the Association.
A popular choice was Edinburgh Zoo while one family opted for the Edinburgh Dungeon. The Association paid for travel costs and provided a contribution towards a picnic.
It is the latest in a series of celebrations marking 30 years of Muirhouse which have had a firm focus on involving tenants and the wider community.
Susan Bell, Muirhouse’s chief executive, said: “From the very start of our anniversary year we were keen to ensure a high level of involvement with our tenants and the wider community.
“With the final days of summer now here, trips to some of Edinburgh’s most popular attractions arising from our art competition were a fitting climax to the celebrations.”
A number of community-focused activities have marked the three decades of Muirhouse.
These have included financial support to tackle the cost of living crisis for families for two local schools – Craigroyston Community High School and Craigroyston Primary.
