Muirhouse donates £1,000 to school to help families and pupils with cost of living crisis
School pupils and their families have received a winter cash boost to the tune of £1,000 from Muirhouse Housing Association.
The early Christmas donation to Craigroyston Community High School a helping hand aimed at those struggling with the cost of living crisis.
Muirhouse Housing Association said it was “delighted” to be able to help the school which is attended by children whose families are Muirhouse tenants.
The term ‘heating or eating’ has been widely used over the last year and it is anticipated the money will be used to buy winter clothing and essentials and contribute to the costs of the school breakfast club.
The donation coincides with Muirhouse’s 30th anniversary this year where it has pledged to focus strongly on supporting its community as part of the celebrations.
Muirhouse chief executive Susan Bell said: “The cost of living crisis is a real challenge for everyone but even more pronounced for those living within our communities.
“Like all housing associations, we are doing whatever we can to lessen the effects of these challenge and our support for the local school which always puts its pupils first is one way of doing that.
“We were clear that one of the key aspects of marking our 30th year was that we continued to provide a community focus and this helping hand for the pupils of Craigroyston Community High School achieves that.”
