New care and support service launched by Aberdeen Cyrenians
A new service offering care and support in the home as part of the innovative Granite Care Consortium is being launched by Aberdeen Cyrenians.
Care Choices will enable vulnerable people in Aberdeen to live independent and fulfilling lives by offering personal choice and care in a home setting. Building on existing expertise and experience in caring for vulnerable people in the city, it will be the fourth new service launched by the charity this year, despite COVID-19 taking it’s toll on the region.
The Granite Care Consortium have successfully gained the commission for the delivery of Care at Home Services across the city of Aberdeen from November 2020 from the Aberdeen Health and Social Care Partnership.
The Consortium are a recently formed group of local 3rd & private sector providers with decades of experience in delivering health & social care services. The Consortium was set up to create market stability, improve outcomes and build a consistent trained and skilled workforce.
Care Choices will offer the Aberdeen Cyrenian’s person-centred, flexible and friendly approach, recognising that everyone has different goals in their life that they want to achieve.
Ruth Ogilvie, residential services lead at Aberdeen Cyrenians, said: “Moving away from “task and time” to enable flexible support, unique for each individual will be a big step forward in how care is delivered in Aberdeen City. Care Choices will focus on each person’s full needs and strengths, and collaborate with family and other care givers to ensure an encompassing and inclusive approach.
“With this new expansion, we are again recruiting for a large number of roles, from service manager to full and part time support practitioners. What makes us different is that we offer guaranteed hours and all of the benefits you’d expect from a living wage accredited employer.
“We are committed to employability in Aberdeen, so also have a number of Trainee roles for those who have the right attitude and share our values, but lack formal experience in social care. We have a training programme ready to ensure we can upskill the successful applicants quickly.
