New chair for Berwickshire Housing Association
Berwickshire Housing Association (BHA) has appointed Hugh Carr as its new chair.
As a current board member, Hugh takes over the position from Jim McDevitt who has come to the end of his term as chair but remains on the board for one final year.
Hugh has been on BHA’s board for over four years, so understands the organisation very well. In addition, he has significant executive and non-executive experience in the social housing and care sectors.
Speaking about his appointment, Hugh said: “I am delighted to take up the role of chair at Berwickshire Housing Association. I am looking forward to supporting the BHA culture that invests in people to develop existing and new skills and encourages innovation and new thinking. Whilst we face many challenges both now and, in the future, I am encouraged by the people, passion and enthusiasm here at BHA to meet those challenges head on.”
Michelle Meldrum, BHA chief executive, added: “We are very much looking forward to working alongside Hugh in his role as Chair. Hugh has an in-depth understanding of the sector, the challenges and opportunities. He brings with him valuable insights and experience and is someone who wants to make a positive impact on the customers and communities we serve.”
