New chairperson and director among number of appointments at Reidvale
Reidvale Housing Association has a new chair, vice chair, director and a number of co-opted committee members following a special meeting last week.
After a Special General Meeting held at the end of March saw five new committee members elected to the management committee, a Special Management Committee meeting was held on 4 April to elect Denise Dempsey as chairperson and Helen Richman as vice chair.
The committee co-opted Michael Carberry, former director of Blochairn Housing Association and a former Reidvale employee, and Helen Moore, former Reidvale chairperson and former chairperson of the Glasgow & West of Scotland Forum of Housing Associations (GWSF).
Ian Elrick, former director of finance and development at Glasgow City Council’s Housing Service and former financial director at Loretto Housing Association, was co-opted in March. Former director of Scottish Homes, Jim Hastie, will be co-opted to the committee at the next meeting on 24 April 2024.
The management committee then voted unanimously to appoint Julie Smillie, director of Molindinar Park Housing Association, as director on a six-month secondment, to replace the recently appointed interim directors, Lynn McCulloch and Paul Rydquist.
The management committee extended its thanks to the previous chairperson Eddie Marley for his tireless work on behalf of the Reidvale community over many years.
The committee added: “The Association is grateful for the support offered by Molendinar Park and for the offers of support from many other housing associations who have followed the Reidvale story since December 2023.
“The management committee is determined to address the issues raised by the Scottish Housing Regulator and to continue the journey to restore the Association to what it once was – one of the most respected in Glasgow.”
