Iain Macmillan, interim chair of the Hebridean Housing Partnership (HHP), has announced the appointment of Dena Macleod as chief executive of HHP.

Current director of resources Mrs Macleod will take up the post with effect from July 11.

Following the board meeting on June 22, Iain Macmillan said: “Angus Lamont advised the board at the beginning of this year that he intended to retire from his position as chief executive in July. HHP’s board, with the support of external advisers Employers in Voluntary Housing carried out a rigorous recruitment process which attracted very high quality applicants and has now unanimously chosen Dena Macleod, currently our director of resources, to be our new chief executive.

“Dena, a chartered accountant by profession, has a wealth of experience in the provision of housing services both within local government at Comhairle Nan Eilean Siar and with HHP over the past 10 years. The board is confident that Dena will take the organisation forward and achieve great things on behalf of HHP’s tenant’s and the wider community.”

Dena added: “HHP will reach a milestone this year and celebrate 10 years since the housing stock was transferred from the Comhairle. We have achieved a lot, made a positive impact on local communities but we know there is room for improvement to ensure we deliver the best service we can to all our customers. I am really pleased to have been chosen by the board to lead the partnership in what is an interesting, exciting and challenging time I look forward to working with our customers, Board, staff and partners to shape our service for the future by building on the legacy passed to us by Angus Lamont.”
