New community housing planned to on Isle of Eigg
Plans have been submitted for a £1 million community-owned housing scheme on the Hebridean island of Eigg.
The Isle of Eigg Heritage Trust, which only recently celebrated the 20th anniversary of buying the isle, plans to deliver four homes.
The homes will be a mixture of two, three and four bedroomed houses and will be the equivalent of increasing the properties on Eigg by around 10%.
During the Trust’s tenure the population has increased from 64 to 105.
But Maggie Fyffe, secretary of the Trust, said the new homes were “badly needed” to meet the existing community’s needs and also attract new residents.
She told The Herald: “We already have people identified for the homes.”
