New council cottage flats set for Uddingston
South Lanarkshire Council has approved plans for 20 new council homes in Uddingston.
The cottage flats will be contained within five blocks of two-storey buildings and located on both sides of Drumgray Avenue.
The buildings will incorporate traditional pitched roofs and car parking provision will be provided at the front and side of the properties.
Approval for the new homes was unanimously agreed at a meeting of the council’s planning committee.
Chair of the committee, Councillor Isobel Dorman, said: “These new homes are fantastic news for the local community.
“It is wonderful to see more much-needed affordable homes created.”
Chair of the council’s housing and technical resources committee, Councillor Josh Wilson, added: “We are delighted that planning approval has been granted for the development of 20 affordable homes in Uddingston.
“South Lanarkshire Council is committed to delivering its target of 1000 additional homes by 2021, and this development contributes to our aim to improve the availability, quality and access of housing across South Lanarkshire.
“The council will continue to work with our Registered Social Landlord Partners and the Scottish Government to provide good quality, affordable and energy-efficient homes in the right places.”
