New dedicated tenant and resident safety network for Scotland
A small group of social housing practitioners have come together to establish a dedicated tenant and resident safety network for colleagues across Scotland.
The Social Housing Safety Network Scotland has been created to focus on tenant and resident safety in Scotland and to provide information, guidance and networking collaboration for local authority and housing association landlords.
The Network is proud to share the skills, knowledge and experience of industry-leading practitioners to support its members in understanding their statutory obligations, the importance of measuring their organisation’s performance and how to evidence compliance for tenant and resident safety.
The Network was founded by Vicki Cutler alongside three other co-founding practitioners, Matt Dawes, Ryan Hodgson and Louise Burgess, who have over 60 years’ social housing sector experience between them! Their extensive knowledge has enabled them to develop a range of documents that will support organisations to gain assurance of their compliance with all elements of tenant and resident safety.
The Network aims to bring together social housing providers across Scotland to support each other, sharing good practice and enabling, in the future, the benchmarking of tenant and resident safety performance against key performance indicators (KPIs).
Membership benefits include:
- Legislation tracker and KPI scorecard
- Policy & Procedure review service
- Self-assessment checklists for the ‘big 6’ tenant and resident safety areas
- Online library, including quick guides, briefings and technical bulletins
- Member forum
- Free and discounted events
As the Network grows, the content will be driven by ideas from members, providing up-to-date, relevant information.
Members are already joining the Network and say that they are delighted to be able to have access to such a dedicated resource, share good practice with peers and be part of the network as it grows.
The Network is organising its inaugural tenant and resident safety annual conference, with a raft of subject experts and colleagues from the sector sharing their good practice; workshops to enable collaboration and of course the opportunity to network with peers.
The conference aspires to encourage discussion around the key tenant and resident safety subject areas; we all know how much there is to consider with regards to this subject and with the scrutiny from the Regulator, this is a great opportunity to hear from sector experts and improve your knowledge.
Our Network wants to encourage collaboration and communication of best practice, for the betterment of the sector and the tenants and residents who live in social housing. By working together, we believe we can aid organisational understanding, promote consistency and, in the long run, provide a greater knowledge of where best value for expenditure can be gained without compromising safety of staff or tenants.
